The Second Advent

Image
The Second Advent A ccording to the Oxford dictionary, the word advent means "the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event." Some Christians celebrate the advent season during Christmas as a special time of religious observance.     The first advent signified the birth of Jesus Christ. He came into this world as a humble baby born of virgin Mary in the town of Bethlehem. The reason for His first advent is to save the helpless human race. "God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him " (John 3:17, NLT). How is he going to save the world? "For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).    Many people thought He was going to fight the Romans and deliver the Jews from their oppression from Rome.   The Christian and Halloween: A Call to Reject the Works of Darkness Every October, families prepare to celebrate Halloween. Streets are filled with costumes, skulls, haunted houses, witches, and graveyard imagery.    What is the gospel ? Your eternity depends on it The Background Let me take you on a brief journey to the creation account as a way of providing some background to the gospel. In Genesis chapter 1, we read, “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, … God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them’” (Gen. 1:26-27). How can God create us in His image and yet create male and female? Once a young lady asked me, brother, is God male or female? Bible says, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24).    When God said, let us create man in our own image, He is not talking about the physical body, but about the spirit of man to be in the image of God. That spirit will not die—it will last forever and ever, as it was created in God’s image. The spirit within you is the real you. Then God put that spirit in a house to dwell, what we call—the body. Then how are we ...
