   What is the gospel ? Your eternity depends on it The Background Let me take you on a brief journey to the creation account as a way of providing some background to the gospel. In Genesis chapter 1, we read, “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, … God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them’” (Gen. 1:26-27). How can God create us in His image and yet create male and female? Once a young lady asked me, brother, is God male or female? Bible says, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24).    When God said, let us create man in our own image, He is not talking about the physical body, but about the spirit of man to be in the image of God. Streets are filled with costumes, skulls, haunted houses, witches, and graveyard imagery. Sadly, many Christians treat Halloween as harmless fun—placing it in the same category as Thanksgiving or Christmas. But God’s Word calls us to discernment. A born-again believer cannot mix the light of Christ with the works of darkness.       A Brief History of Halloween Halloween originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, where people believed the boundary between the living and the dead was blurred on October 31st.
